| 授業のねらいと達成目標 /Course Objectives |
This class has the following learning goals for students: 1. Make connections and build friendships with students in different departments. 2. Develop a learning community based on respect for classmates and commitment to learning. 3. Develop group work skills and flexibility to understand different opinions as a foundation for collaboration-based projects. 4. Develop ability to participate, discuss, and share with others, including giving reasons and evidence to support ideas. 5. Improve critical, analytical and reflective thinking 7. Develop confidence to be active on the global stage. 8. Improve practical English skills. Main target skills are: discussion, communication, presentation, group work, reflection, feedback giving, using sources, using technology and AI, research skills, time management, goal setting, and English proficiency. |
| 授業概要 /Course description |
The aim of this class is to introduce students to a variety of skills that will help them to succeed in a globalizing world, no matter what path they choose in the future. Students will also improve their English proficiency in a practical manner. Students will take familiar topics that connect with their own experience and work on viewing them from new perspectives and thinking about different points of view. Students will develop their own ideas in communication with classmates, and work on being able to express themselves clearly. The course aims to prepare students to think critically and independently, conduct independent research, and manage their learning effectively. Students will set their own goals and work towards developing the skills necessary to succeed in our global society while developing basic research skills through group projects with real-world applications. |

Each lesson is built on the contents of the previous lesson. Therefore in order to participate in a group it is essential that students actively participate and do all of their preparation and homework on time. If a student cannot attend class, she must contact the teacher in advance. The syllabus may change in consultation with students. In this course, students are expected to: 1. Come to each class well prepared and ready to discuss with classmates. 2. Maintain academic honesty and not commit plagiarism (see pages 35, 36, and 37 of the 学生生活ガイドブック for more information). 3. Use their best English. 4. Not use translation software (e.g., Google Translate, Deepl) or generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) to complete assignments, except when specifically required. 5. Use a computer and the Internet to complete assignments as necessary. 6. Appreciate diversity and difference of opinion and background. 7. Respect one another and the teacher. 8. Help create a positive classroom environment by participating actively and positively each week. 9. Do their best! Please contact your teacher by email or through Google Classroom with any questions, concerns, or confusion. You can also make appointments for one-on-one consultation as necessary, in person or online through Google Meet. 各回の授業外学習時間(予習・復習)には4時間程度かかると想定される。 |
