授業のねらいと達成目標 /Course Objectives |
The aim of this course is to encourage students to enjoy reading in English; to increase their speed and fluency in reading in English; and to consolidate students' English vocabulary. |
授業概要 /Course description |
Most of the class time will be given to students reading graded readers which they choose from the library. Guidance will be given regarding students' level. After reading, students will measure their success in online quizzes in XReading. Students will be given clear word count targets, which have to be reached to pass the course. In addition, students will do timed readings on various topics, They will also actively share their reactions to what they've read with the teacher and each other in various other activities. |

準備学習・履修上の注意 /Notices |
Students will use their smartphones or computer to access both the course site and the online quizzes. How much time will be needed for reading out of class depends on how efficiently students read during the class time, and what grade a student is aiming for, but about 4 hours a week. 【授業外学修の内容】 毎回の授業の振り返りを行うこと。指示した課題を行うこと。 |

成績評価の方法 /Evaluation |
【評価方法/Evaluation】 Students will be evaluated on a. Number of words read according to XReading or MReader (75%); b. Vocabulary & Timed Reading progress and test. (10%); c. Book recommendation report and comment (10%) d. Active participation in class activities (5%). 【評価基準】 課題:授業で扱ったテーマを理解している テスト:授業で扱ったテーマに関する問題に解答できる 授業への参加度:積極的に発言し、授業へ参加している 【課題(試験やレポート)に対するフィードバックの方法】 Instant online feedback is given after the book quizzes. Further feedback will be given verbally on in individual interviews. |
