副題 ／SubTitle	Developing presentation skills to send your messages efficiently.
授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	The aims of this course are: 1) developing fundamental skills of communication, which is to make your message easy to understand and 2) building relationship among class members.
授業概要 ／Course description	Main class activities are small-group presentations. Through these activities, students will learn how to give a more efficient presentation in terms of language, content, manner (or delivery) and expressions including the use of visual aides.
授業計画（授業の形式、スケジュール等） ／Class schedule	Week 1: Course Orientation, Self-introduction, Making self-check sheet Week 2: Body Message (Posture, Eye Contact), Show & Tell Week 3: Presentation Procedures (plan-prepare-practice-perform) Week 4: Description using photos, Explanation Week 5: Speech Practices (rhythm, intonation) Week 6: Read-aloud Presentation Week 7: Story Message (topic development, the introduction) Week 8: Story Message (the body: main ideas, supporting evidence) Week 9: Story Message (the conclusion, transition) Week 10: Visual Message (making slides), small presentation Week 11: Visual Message (efficient use of visual aides) Week 12: final presentation preparation Week 13: final presentation preparation & rehearsal Week 14: final presentations Week 15: reflections
準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	In a small-group presentation, students must actively listen to other students’ presentations to provide informative feedback for them. 授業外学習は、練習、復習、調べ等に多くの時間を必要とし、1週につき1時間程度を要する。
教科書・参考書等 ／Textbooks	【教科書】Materials will be provided in class. 【参考書】Students are encouraged to follow social media sites that illustrate features of public speaking.
成績評価の方法 ／Evaluation	【評価方法】 active participation in activities (30%), final presentation (30%), read-aloud presentation (20%), reflections (20%) 【評価基準】 授業への参加度：積極的に発言し、授業へ参加している プレゼンテーション: 内容を分かりやすく説明し、自分の意見を述べることができる 課題：授業内容を理解している 【課題（試験やレポート）に対するフィードバックの方法】 We use Google Classroom for the submission of assignments and speech records. In class, students provide feedback for peers’ presentations.  To do well in the class, students should prepare well, contribute to their groupwork positively, come to class each week, develop confidence, deliver well-structured and engaging speeches in English.
