副題 ／SubTitle	Extensive Reading 2/多読法
授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	The aim of this course is to develop the reading progress students have made in the first semester; to encourage students to enjoy reading in English;  to increase their speed and fluency in reading in English; and to consolidate students' English vocabulary.
授業概要 ／Course description	Most of the class time will be given to students reading graded readers which they choose from the library or in digital format in Xreading. Guidance will be given regarding students' level. After reading, students will measure their success in online quizzes in  Xreading. Students will be given clear word count targets, which have to be reached to pass the course. In addition, students will do timed readings on various topics,  They will also actively share their reactions to what they've read with the teacher and each other in various other activities.
授業計画（授業の形式、スケジュール等） ／Class schedule	Activities below are in addition to reading books from the graded reader library.  This is a guideline only and may change according to student needs and other factors. Topics covered in the Timed Readings include: Animals, Books, Computers, and Music. Sometimes there will be two readings. 第1回：Introduction to the course. Reviewing what ER is. Joining the course website. Introduction to graded readers. Class reader.  第２回：Introduction to online book quiz system. Explaining word targets. Choosing a book and reading.  第３回：Using the textbook: Timed reading (TR) 1.  Graded reader and quiz. 第４回：TR 2. Reading and quiz. 第５回：TR 3. Reading and quiz. Talking about your reading.  第６回：TR 4. Reading and quiz. Blurb and title matching activity.   第７回：TR 5 and 6. Reading and quiz. Book of the month report.    第８回：TR 7 and 8. Checking progress charts. Reading and quiz.    第９回：TR 9 and 10. Reading and quiz. Responding to classmates' 'book of the month' reports.  第１０回：TR 11 and 12. Reading and quiz. Crossword reading puzzle.  第１１回：TR 13 and 14. Reading and quiz.  第１２回：TR 15 and 16. Reading and quiz.   第１３回：TR 17 and 18. Graded reading and quiz.   第１４回：Fluency reading test. Graders readers continued.     第１５回：Reaching the word target and going beyond. Wrap up.
準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	Students will use their smartphones to access both the course site and the O Online quizzes.  How much time will be needed for reading out of class depends on how efficiently students read during the class time, and what grade a student is aiming for, but about an hour a week.  【授業外学修の内容】 毎回の授業の振り返りを行うこと。指示した課題を行うこと。
教科書・参考書等 ／Textbooks	【教科書／Text books】 A card from Xreading will give access to 1,200 graded readers and their quizzes & quizzes on paper books in the library, as well as the Timed Reading textbook. 成績評価の方法 ／Evaluation	【評価方法／Evaluation】 Students will be evaluated on  a. Number of words read according to MReader or XReading (75%);   b. Vocabulary & Fluency reading test score (10%);  c. Book recommendation report and comment (10%) d. Active participation in class (5%).  【評価基準】 課題：授業で扱ったテーマを理解している テスト：授業で扱ったテーマに関する問題に解答できる 授業への参加度：積極的に発言し、授業へ参加している 【課題（試験やレポート）に対するフィードバックの方法】 Instant online feedback is given after the book quizzes. Further feedback will be given verbally on in individual interviews.
