| 授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives |
The aim of this course will be to work towards developing a sense of competence in the skills of Reading and Writing in English, and the ability to express opinions and share ideas with others. Contents of the syllabus may be subject to change in consultation with students. この授業はディプロマ・ポリシーの「6：専攻する言語について、高度なコミュニケーション能力を身につけている」に対応している。 |
| 授業概要 ／Course description |
The course will be based on a series of English readings on a variety of topics concerned with social and global issues. The material will be approached both in terms of comprehension and as a stimulus for expressing opinions and sharing ideas verbally and in writing. A series of written assignments to be done outside the class (and possibly presented for discussion in class) and vocabulary building quizzes in class may also be given for the purpose of further enhancing competence in the ability to write and ‘use’ English. |

| 準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices |
Classes will be conducted entirely in English. In addition to written assignments when given, students will be expected to do reg ular preparation or out of class work connected with the specified topics before and after each class. Keeping an open mind and showing a positive attitude help greatly in doing well. Of course regular attendance is paramount; at least two-thirds attendance is required to obtain the course credit. It takes an hour per week for out-of-class learning. 【授業外学修の内容】 毎回の授業の予習と振り返りを行うこと。授業において指示した課題を行うこと。 |

【評価方法 Weighting of Evaluation】 Assessment will be based on: 1. Activity (regular participation, active participation in class) = 15%, 2. Tasks = 40%, 3. Tests = 20%, 4.
