授業概要 /Course description |
This course introduces students to critical readings, comprehension and discussion activities on everyday social and cultural topics. These topics include the latest issues, trends and ideas in society, culture, and human behavior. If some of these topics are not now touching the lives of students, they will surely do in the near future. Through reading the course textbook and researching the topics on the Internet and other media sources students will expand their knowledge while keeping current. |

To succeed in this course students must do the pre-lesson required readings. Keeping an open mind and showing a positive attitude help greatly in doing well. Of course regular attendance is paramount; at least two-thirds attendance is required to obtain the course credits. At least one hour of outside-class pre and post lesson preparation and review are required. 【授業外学修の内容】 毎回の授業の予習と振り返りを行うこと。授業において指示した課題を行うこと。 |

【評価方法 】 The final grade will be based on: Active Participation:10% Periodical Vocabulary Quizzes: 15% Summary, Analysis, Essay Writing including final essay:60% Final Exam: Grammar and Vocabulary 15% 【評価基準】 Review Activities: Students are expected to demonstrate their understanding of the skills taught. 【課題(試験やレポート)に対するフィードバックの方法】 Feedback: Brief individual feedback will be given after each assignment and extended feedback during the final class of review and consultation. |

Group Activities: Students are assigned group-work that mainly involves discussion and sharing of research. This course builds on skills learned in Advanced English BI (Adv. Eng. BI); as such students are expected to have successfully completed Adv. Eng. BI before taking this course. Manaba Learning Management System (LMS) is used throughout the course. |
