授業のねらいと達成目標 /Course Objectives |
This class will encourage students to develop confidence in expressing themselves in English both orally and in written form and help them prepare to write their graduation report. More broadly, this class is to help students develop knowledge, critical thinking, analytical ability, and their overall command of English. The main learning goals for this class are: 1. To learn what a graduation report is and what is required to write one. 2. To develop an understanding of research topics, questions, and methods, and how to choose them appropriately. 3. To develop independent research skills and the ability to self-motivate. 4. To begin writing a graduation report and have an understanding about how to proceed in the next semester. |
授業概要 /Course description |
In this class, we will work on developing research skills and preparing for the graduation report. After completing this class, students will be prepared to conduct their research during the summer vacation. Students will work together to develop a solid understanding of what the graduation report is, what is required, and how they need to work on it. |

This is class is very heavily participation based, so active attendance and finishing all prepwork on time is mandatory. If a student will miss a class, she must contact the teacher in advance and make up all necessary work promptly. Students are expected to participate fully and do their best, so everyone can write great theses. Thoughtful peer discussion and feedback is essential for creating a positive learning environment for everyone to grow and develop well. Students are expected to maintain regular deadlines, and be prepared to contribute actively to peer discussions sessions each week. The schedule may change in consultation with students. 各回の授業外学習時間(予習・復習)には 1時間程度かかると想定される。 |

【評価方法】 70% Active Participation, Group Work, & Preparation 30% Timely Progress & Meeting Set Deadlines 【評価基準】 Grading is based on students’ active participation and timely progress. Grades will be assigned based on students’ efforts in class and in completing assignments, and on timeliness in meeting deadlines. 【課題に対するフィードバックの方法】 One-on-one feedback will be provided in class and through written comments on assignments. |
