副題 ／SubTitle	Writing & Editing the Graduation Report
授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	The main learning goals for this class are: 1. To develop independent research skills and the ability to self-motivate. 2. To learn about and engage actively in the process of doing independent research and writing a graduation report.   3. To develop academic writing skills and the ability to express research results clearly and effectively.    4. To complete writing a graduation report and reflect deeply on the experience and how it connects to students’ futures.
授業概要 ／Course description	This class will help students through the process of writing their graduation theses. More broadly, this class is to help students develop knowledge, critical thinking, analytical ability, and their overall command of English.  Students will work on their graduation theses in a structured setting, working together with their peers and the teacher to develop their writing and research skills in English.  The aim of this class is to develop students’ abilities, develop an active support community among classmates, and help them write the best graduation report that they can.
授業計画（授業の形式、スケジュール等） ／Class schedule	第1回： Reporting on Summer Progress; Goal Setting and Writing Plans 第2回： Writing the Report: Literature Review & Background 第3回： Writing the Report: Presentation on Progress 第4回： Writing the Report: Writing Up Individual Research Results  第5回： One on One Guidance and Discussion; Peer Discussion  第6回： Writing the Report: Analysis (1) What did we find? 第7回:   Writing the Report: Analysis (2) Why is it important? 第8回： Making Connections—Tying It All Together 第9回： Peer Feedback & Discussion 第10回：Finishing the Body of the Report 第11回：Writing a Conclusion 第12回：Final Polishing, Editing, & Submission 第13回：Reflection on the Report—What did we learn? 第14回：Reflection on the Report—How can we use what we learned in the future? 第15回：Reflection on the Report—How is what we learned connected to society?
準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	This is class is very heavily participation and self-motivation based, so active attendance and finishing all prepwork on time is mandatory. If a student will miss a class, she must contact the teacher in advance and make up all necessary work promptly. Students are expected to participate fully and do their best, so everyone can write great theses. Thoughtful peer discussion and feedback is essential for creating a positive learning environment for everyone to grow and develop well.   Students are expected to maintain regular deadlines and be prepared to contribute actively to peer discussions sessions each week.  The schedule may change in consultation with students. 各回の授業外学習時間（予習・復習）には 1時間程度かかると想定される。

成績評価の方法 ／Evaluation	【評価方法】 70% Active Participation, Group Work, & Preparation 30% Timely Progress & Meeting Set Deadlines  【評価基準】 Grading is based on students’ active participation and timely progress.  Grades will be assigned based on students’ efforts in class and in completing assignments, and on timeliness in meeting deadlines.  【課題に対するフィードバックの方法】 One-on-one feedback will be provided in class and through written comments on assignments.
