The aim of this course is to introduce some of the main ideas and concerns of 'Language' - the ways people learn it (as both a 1st and 2nd language), use it, and think about it. この授業は、ディプロマ・ポリシー「専攻する言語と文学、文化に関して、専門的な知見と技能を身につけている」に対応している。 |
| 授業概要 ／Course description |
The course will be conducted in English. The topics will be based on the textbook, which contains readings and exercises. Students will need to do a summary presentation of one of the topics in the textbook. There will also be mini-lectures by the teacher, which can also be viewed online. There will be also be regular tests on the material plus a final report. The topics below are only a guide and others may be chosen. |

第1回：Introduction and plan for the term. Chapter 1. Choosing a topic. 第2回：Ch. 2 + finalizing chapter assignments. 第3回：Chs. 3; and ch. 4. 第4回：Chs. 5 and 6. Writing reaction comment on chs. 1-6. 第5回: Chs. 7 and 8. 第6回：Chs. 9 and 10. 第7回：Chs. 11 and 12. 第8回：Chs. 13 and 14. 第9回：Chs. 15 and 19. 第10回：Chs. 20 and 21. 第11回：Ch. 22. Explaining final report. 第12回：Chs. 23 and 24. 第13回：Submitting last topic test. Working on report. 第14回：Re-takes, and submitting final report. 第15回：Submit revised report, and online. Wrap up discussion. |
| 準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices |
Students will need to log in to a course website to receive notices and materials, and submit presentation slides. This can be done on a computer, or tablet or phone. Preparation and review will take about 1 hour per week. 【授業外学修の内容】 毎回の授業の予習と振り返りを行うこと。授業において指示した課題を行うこと。 |

【評価方法】 Tests: 10% x 7 = 60%. Summaries & Presentation: 15%. Report: 15% Reaction Comment: 5%. Active Participation in discussions: 5%. Performance in the tests, report, presentations and discussions week by week. 【評価基準】 テスト：授業で扱ったテーマに関する問題に解答できる。 発表・レポート：授業で扱ったテーマを理解し、自分の意見を述べることができる。 【フィードバックの方法】 Instant online feedback is given after the tests. Further feedback will be given verbally on test topics, individual presentations, and for revision of the final report. |
