副題 ／SubTitle	メアリー・シェリーの『フランケンシュタイン』
授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	(1) 18世紀後半から19世紀前半にかけてのイギリス文学について、専門的な知識を修得する。 (2) 文学テクストを歴史的コンテクストに基づいて解釈することができる。
授業概要 ／Course description	イギリス・ロマン主義の時代に活躍した女性作家に、メアリー・シェリーがいる。彼女のベストセラーとなった小説『フランケンシュタイン』（1818年初版）は、21世紀の今ではイギリス文学の古典として世界中で親しまれ、学術研究の対象となってからも実に久しい。本講義では、「ゴシック・ノベル」と「サイエンス・フィクション」という2つの観点から『フランケンシュタイン』を詳細に分析する。また、物語に充満する聖書のイメージを浮き彫りにするだけでなく、主人公と宿敵との関係性が包含するジェンダーとセクシュアリティの問題にも光を当て、近代西洋という大きなコンテクストの中に『フランケンシュタイン』を位置づけることも、本講義の目的となっている。

準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	授業外学習には、1週間につき4時間程度を要する。前回の授業内容をハンドアウトで復習し、次回扱う予定の資料（英語の抜粋を含む）に目を通しておくこと。また、Google Classroom で与える課題に、期限までに取り組むこと。

成績評価の方法 ／Evaluation	【評価方法】 不定期の課題（40%）および期末レポート（60%）により、総合的に評価する。 【評価基準】 不定期の課題：授業内容を正確に理解しているか。 期末レポート：論理的に明晰な文章で書かれているか。 【課題（試験やレポート）に対するフィードバックの方法】 不定期の課題：授業内で解説を行う。 期末レポート：最終回の授業にて、添削済みの原稿を返却し、解説を行う。
