授業概要 /Course description |
This course offers an introduction to the cultures of the English-speaking (E-S) Caribbean. The Caribbean will be introduced as a region of diverse cultures, people, and languages. Including the English speaking countries, there are the Spanish, French, and Dutch speaking ones which all make up the Caribbean. The focus is mainly on the historical background, theories and metaphors which can help us to understand the English-speaking Caribbean cultures. |

Week 1: Introductions; Course Overview; What is culture and literature? Why study Caribbean Culture? 【評価方法/Evaluation】 Evaluation will be based on Participation (10%), Lecture Impression & Review (30%), Mini assignments (20%) and End -of Semester Exam (40%). 【評価基準】 Review Activities: Students are expected to demonstrate their understanding of the skills taught. 【課題(試験やレポート)に対するフィードバックの方法】 Brief individual feedback will be given after each assignment and extended feedback during the final class of review and consultation. |

Students will do: (1) individual presentation of their lecture reviews. (2) further research and group-sharing of research findings. Manaba Course: This Learning Management System (LMS) is used throughout the course. Students are required to check it for weekly updates. |
