| 授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives |
We will explore the different types of language change there are and have occured in languages. We will also look at the different attitudes people have toward language change. この授業は、ディプロマ・ポリシー「専攻する言語と文学、文化に関して、専門的な知見と技能を身につけている」に対応している。 |
| 授業概要 ／Course description |
The class work will go through language changes in general and the changes in English in particular. The sessions will be conducted in a lecture style, but the students will be expected to participate in class discussions and present their findings on assigned material on a weekly basis. The classes will be conducted in English. |

It is not fixed and the pace will be adjusted as necessary, thereby adjusting the progress of the syllabus accordingly. |
| 準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices |
Attendance, class participation and handing in of assignments on time are crucial to passing this course. Although this class is open to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students, 2nd year students are strongly advised to wait until their 3rd or 4th year to take this course. The course is intense and demanding so some students may find it difficult to keep up with the work, especially if they are not confident in their English ability. Students should expect to spend 4 hours outside of class for review and preparation for class each week. 【授業外学修の内容】 毎回の授業の予習と振り返りを行うこと。授業において指示した課題を行うこと。 |

【評価方法／Evaluation】 Evaluation will be based on class participation (20%), homework assignments (20%) and the six quizzes (60%) which will be given throughout the semester. 【評価基準】 授業への参加度：積極的に発言し、授業へ参加している 課題：授業で扱ったテーマを理解し、真摯に取り組んでいる 【課題（試験やレポート）に対するフィードバックの方法】 Feedback will be given in class individuallly and generally in classes following the quizzes. |
