副題 ／SubTitle	Introduction to Intercultural Communication II
授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	It is hoped that by the end of the course, the student will be better communicators and have a better understanding of how to avoid misunderstandings in intercultural communication. As the classes will be conducted in English, the students should be able to improve their skills in English, as well learn the basics of intercultural communication.
授業概要 ／Course description	We will examine the ways in which culture interrelates with and effects communication, and try to understand how communication processes differ among cultures and identify the challenges that arise from these differences.  Although the first semester is not a prerequisite for this  course, references will be made to the work done during the first semester. In the second semester, we will delve into problems of stereotyping,  prejudice, discrimination and racism.

準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	The classes will be conducted in English.  Attendance and class participation are crucial to passing this course. Class activities will include group work in the discussion-analysis and  problem-solving of assigned reading materials and movie clips observed in class. Students should expect to spend 4 hours outside of class to prepare and review for class each week. 【授業外学修の内容】 毎回の授業の予習と振り返りを行うこと。授業において指示した課題を行うこと。
教科書・参考書等 ／Textbooks	【教科書／Textbooks】 授業内で適宜指示する。 【参考書／Reference books】 Printed handouts and other materials for homework and lessons will be distributed in class as necessary.
成績評価の方法 ／Evaluation	【評価方法／Evaluation】 Evaluation will be based on class participation including presentations (35%)  and  5 reaction papers (65%). 【評価基準】 授業への参加度：積極的に発言し、授業へ参加している 課題：授業で扱ったテーマを理解し、真摯に取り組んでいる 【課題（試験やレポート）に対するフィードバックの方法】 Feedback will be given in class or through manabacourse or other LMS depending on the class.
