授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	After completing this course students should have knowledge of the following: how to read and approach a play in a variety of different ways how to understand character, motivation and situation. how to put themselves into the situation of the character through role play how to project their voice how to use speech as means of affecting others. how to prepare for role in a scene
授業概要 ／Course description	The aims of this course are as follows Students will read several short plays in English each week. Students will engage with the situation by discussing simple questions. Students will understand the content, character and situation within each play. Students will explore the situation through role play Students will enhance their vocabulary by utilizing words and phrases related to the situation. Students will improve knowledge of grammatical structures by exploring specific forms with the short plays. Students will play plenty of confidence and team building games. Students will perform in one of the plays for an end of term performance.
授業計画（授業の形式、スケジュール等） ／Class schedule	第1回：introductions - play 1 - a tale of love at a wedding. 第2回：rehearse and practice. 第3回：play 2 - an exhibition for new homes with futuristic functions. 第4回：rehearse and practice. 第5回：play 3 - a job interview with unlikely candidates. 第6回：rehearse and practice. 第7回：play 4 - a group of students get in trouble at school. 第8回：rehearse and practice. 第9回：play 5 - an airplane flight and an emergency. 第10回：rehearse and practice. 第11回：play 6 - a encounter between two friends. 第12回：rehearse and practice. 第13回：casting & rehearsal 第14回：rehearsal 第15回：final performance
準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	Students should not feel discouraged because there is a performance element. This course is for beginner level and is suitable for anyone who wants to learn and use English actively.  Students will participate in individual, pair, group and whole class activities and this should help them build confidence and be more expressive in English. 授業外学習（予習・復習・授業内で指示した課題への取り組み）には、1週間につき4時間を要する。 【授業外学修の内容】 毎回の授業の予習と振り返りを行うこと。授業において指示した課題を行うこと。
教科書・参考書等 ／Textbooks	【教科書】12 Short Plays for the Language Classroom & Beyond by Chris Parham (Blue Book)  Published by Intergraphica Press.  Students will be informed of how to purchase a book in Week 1.
成績評価の方法 ／Evaluation	【評価方法】This is a practical course and students will be graded on the below mentioned things: Script reading (10%) Performance in final showing in Week 15  (30%) Textbook Homework/Journal (20%) Big Test (20%) Active Participation (10%) Effort & Contribution (10%) 【評価基準】 Students are expected to demonstrate their understanding of the skills taught. 【課題（試験やレポート）に対するフィードバックの方法】 Feedback will be given in class.
