授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	Students will learn English listening and speaking skills, while engaging in the communicative exchanges which occur naturally in the discourse framework introduced with the topic contents.
授業概要 ／Course description	In this class we will be looking at English language movies. We will look at movies to examine the language used and the themes discussed. Through these movies, we will work on listening, communication, interpretation and discussion skills.  We will look at a variety of movie genres to give students a balanced exposure to various forms of cinema and the types of language and ideas they use and explore.
授業計画（授業の形式、スケジュール等） ／Class schedule	第1回：Welcome back: communication and orientation activities to (re)introduce students to one another and course content.  第2回：Billy Elliot 1: Masculinity and roles in society.   第3回：Billy Elliot 2: Interpretations and applications to self.   第4回：Q & A: your questions and answers based around the themes of movies.  第5回：Rear Window 1: Classic movies, influential directors and movie stars.  第6回： Rear Window 2: Voyeurism and social media.  第7回：Presentation: introducing a movie and its significance to you. Choosing your topic and preparing your script.  第8回：Presentations: student presentations on influential movies.  第9回：Groundhog Day: Narrative forrms and structures.  第10回： Groundhog Day: The movie and you, students' interpretatioins and responses. 第11回：It's a Wonderful Life: full movie viewing and related activities, part 1. Exploring the language of the film. 第12回：It's a Wonderful Life: full movie viewing and related activities, part 2. Discussing the themes and influences of the film.  第13回：You are the teacher: preparing English activities based on a scene of your choice.  第14回：You are the teacher: responding to other students' prepared activities. 第15回：Test: written test & feedback. Wrap up.
準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	One  hour per week are required for out of class learning. This may increase or decrease based upon the activities. 【授業外学修の内容】 毎回の授業の予習と振り返りを行うこと。授業において指示した課題を行うこと。

成績評価の方法 ／Evaluation	【評価方法】 40% on the presentation activity.  40% on second 'You are the Teacher' activity.  20% on final test.   【評価基準】 授業で扱ったテーマを理解している。   【課題(試験やレポート)に対するフィードバックの方法】 Feedback: I will give feedback after each graded activity.
