授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	The overall aims of the class are to develop students' academic speaking, listening and study skills using a variety of everyday topics. To build learners vocabulary around a topic To improve note taking skills and develop active listening strategies  To discuss the topic using different discussion strategies To present your ideas on a topic using different ways ( posters, computers) (Hopefully these skills will help you in the future situations at work on in academic settings)
授業概要 ／Course description	Organized around realistic college lectures, the class guides learners through carefully sequenced activities in skills such as discussion, presentations, note-taking, intensive listening, and vocabulary building.  The class also helps students evaluate their interests and explore possible career paths. Topics include Sociology, Communication Studies, Business, Education, Health, Biology, Technology, Psychology, Design

準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	You are expected to do the homework ( about  60 minutes per week) and prepare for class activities. Dictionaries would be helpful.  Positive participation and good attendance is expected. This is a very practical, content based course, which gives you the chance to improve your all round English Communication and study skills. Feedback will be given by the teacher I am sure you will enjoy it.  I look forward to meeting you.

成績評価の方法 ／Evaluation	【評価方法】 Your final grade will be based on Class Participation (35%), Homework (30%), and Mid-term and Final Presentations (35%). 【評価基準】 For presentations, three areas will be taught/assessed ; namely, the visual message, the physical message and the story message. 【課題（試験やレポート）に対するフィードバックの方法】 Feedback will be given by the teacher on all assignments.
