授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	Students will improve their English writing skills, while engaging in the communicative exchanges which occur naturally in the discourse framework associated with the topic contents.
授業概要 ／Course description	This course aims to develop both receptive and productive skills in English. The classes cycle accordingly: ① reading and listening; ② vocabulary and writing; ③ speaking/presenting. Students will learn to make decisions and express opinions on topics related to culture and current global issues in a world where international travel and international relations is prevalent.
授業計画（授業の形式、スケジュール等） ／Class schedule	第1回： General introduction. 第2回： Traveling the world  [vocabulary, listening and reading]. 第3回： Travel adventure [reading and writing].   第4回： Discussions/presentations: discussing the risks of travel and extreme activities [speaking].  第5回： Culture in music [vocabulary, listening and reading]. 第6回： Music and brain function [reading and writing]. 第7回： Discussions/presentations: justifying opinions with supporting details and reasons [speaking].  第8回： Review on vocabulary and reading skills.  第9回： Cities of the world [vocabulary, listening and reading]. 第10回：Urban versus rural living [reading and writing].  第11回：Discussions/presentations: presentation skills [speaking].  第12回：Finding wonders of the past [vocabulary, listening and reading]. 第13回：Traveling and ancient history [reading and writing].  第14回：Discussions/presentations: analyzing claims [speaking].  第15回：Review on vocabulary and reading skills.
準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	【授業外学修の内容】 An hour per week for out-of-class learning is expected, and regular attendance is paramount to obtain course credit.  毎回の授業の予習と振り返りを行うこと。授業において指示した課題を行うこと。 Classes will be conducted entirely in English.

成績評価の方法 ／Evaluation	【評価基準】 Assessment will be based on; 1. activity (regular participation, active participation in class) = 15%, 2. Assignments = 40%, 3. Tests = 20%, 4. Final test = 25%. 【評価方法】 Written exams and speaking performances. Evaluation will take the form of continuous assessment and performance.  授業で扱ったテーマを理解し問題に解答できること。 【課題（試験やレポート）に対するフィードバックの方法】 授業にて解説を行う。 All exams or reports will be followed up with answers and explanations provided.
