副題 ／SubTitle	Cross-Cultural Studies (Fourth Year Writing Preparation)
授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	In the Advanced Writing Course, students write a mini-dissertation and further develop their writing skills.   Discussion topics will include comparisons of astrology, etiquette, and working environments across cultures. A variety of writing concepts and techniques are explored to help students navigate a large writing project. In the latter half of the course, students will complete a mini-dissertation project and give brief presentations on their work.
授業概要 ／Course description	After completing this course, students will be able to: - Complete a mini-thesis project - Read and analyze several sources to form opinions on a topic - Summarize other writers' work - Express personal opinions in academic writing - Integrate quotes - Lead discussions - Use MLA style

準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	Students should bring a dictionary, a binder, red and blue pens, and loose leaf paper to class each week. Bringing a tablet or laptop (if available) will be useful.
