副題 ／SubTitle	Writing a graduation thesis.
授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	This course is to guide students through the process of writing a graduation thesis in English. they will develop their ability to think critically and analyze their topic under research. At the end, students will have been able to submit a thesis that satisfies both the requirements of the department for graduation, and their own intellectual and English language curiosity and development.
授業概要 ／Course description	The course will be interactive and expect a high degree of active involvement from the students, as they make their way through the process of choosing and narrowing a topic on which to write their thesis. Guidance will be given on topic selection, research and how to write. Students will be shown how to use the library and also how to use wisely and effectively new tools, such as referencing software, and AI.
授業計画（授業の形式、スケジュール等） ／Class schedule	第1回：Introduction and plan for the semester. 第2回：Getting ideas for the thesis. Looking at previous examples.  第3回：Analyzing introductions by former students.  第4回：Selecting and narrowing the topic. How do we do research?  第5回：Starting the research: possible methods. 第6回：Sources: what is reliable?  第7回：Finding sources continued: Guidance on using AI, the internet, the library.  第8回：Looking at previous literature.  第9回： Asking the right questions; discussion of possible answers. 第10回：Gathering data. 第11回：Data gathering progress. Making an outline of thesis. 第12回：Starting an introduction and literature review. 第13回：Feedback on writing so far. Revising.  第14回：Short presentation on work thus far.  第15回：Submit at least 750 words towards the thesis draft. Setting goals for the summer.
準備学習・履修上の注意 ／Notices	Students should take part actively and attend regularly. They will benefit most if they come prepared and ready to discuss their own ideas and ask questions. Preparation and homework will take four hours a week.
