副題 ／SubTitle	Language in society.
授業のねらいと達成目標 ／Course Objectives	The course will examine various aspects of language as it’s used by people communicating in society, rather than how it is often portrayed in grammar books and textbooks. Students will develop a deeper understanding of pragmatics, media discourse, corpus linguistics and technology used in language learning.
授業概要 ／Course description	The course will proceed on the lines of a negotiated syllabus, largely according to student needs and interests. There will be recap mini-lectures from the teacher, discussions, readings, and exploratory projects involving writing and speaking from the students.  The schedule below is only a guide and will change according to needs, interests, and ideas of students and the teacher.  It will mostly be conducted in English.
